Early oak “gateleg” drop-leaf table – England, late 17th / early 18th century
Description
Warm, deep patinated oak with an oval top, standing on turned legs and square stretchers.
Both leaves can be folded down to save space or opened to create a generous oval dining / serving surface – the classic country house solution that still works perfectly in a contemporary interior.
The table shows the honest wear, repairs and movement in the boards that you expect from a piece that is 250–300 years old, giving it exactly that soft, lived-in character decorators look for.
