Elegant pair of tall brass candlesticks with openwork Gothic bases, spiralling shafts and wide petal-shaped drip pans. The fleur-de-lys-like tracery and slim proportions echo late-19th-century French church metalwork, bringing a quiet liturgical grandeur to a mantelpiece, console or dining table.
Dimensions
• Height: c. 29–31 cm
• Base width: c. 11–12 cm
• Candle socket: for candles approx. 2–2.2 cm diameter
Condition report
Pair complete and stable, standing evenly on all three feet.
Surface: bright, recently polished brass with light age wear, minor scratches and small patina spots.
Slight deformation to the top of one socket from candle use.
No visible fractures or structural repairs.
Overall: very good antique condition, ready to use and display.
Collectors’ note
Late-19th-century Gothic-Revival candlesticks like these bridge domestic and ecclesiastical worlds: they sit happily in a modern interior, but still carry the vertical rhythms and stylised foliage of cathedral stonework and choir stalls. A good choice for collectors of church silver/brass, or for a designer wanting one strong historical accent.
